I am so Excited!!!!!Alright, I have an admission. I have a tendency to overreact a little. And occasionally I'm a little too exuberant. I know it's hard to believe. But this time I really have a good reason. I get to help plan a surprise wedding! That's right, a surprise wedding ala Julia Roberts. And I love weddings! As long as they're not mine. Actually, I love parties in general. Food, flowers, everything. I think I must have been a party planner in a former life. In reality, it's not so much planning as brainstorming. But anyway, this woman I work with is having this barbeque this weekend and they are going to surprise all their guests and get married! They plan on just disappearing for a few minutes, changing, coming back out and getting married. I think I'm almost as excited as her!!! Have I mentioned my tendency to overreact............... Ever been to a kids' Rock Concert?Last Sunday we went to a Ralph's World concert at the Arboretum. For those of you not in the know, Ralph Covert was a member of the Bad Examples, a local indie rock band in Chicago. And now he writes childrens music which is not annoying to adults (which any parent can tell you is priceless). He inspires quite a loyal following with the 8 and under crowd. This is not our first, or last, show. My kids are like little deadheads, wanting to follow him around all summer. We usually manage to make it to two or three shows each year. Anyway, they had this kids mosh pit and all the kids are up there dancing (my kids in particular have absolutely no rhythm) and Ralph is making them do all kinds of nutty things and the kids are all having a blast. Now, most days I'm just happy that I can get clothes on that aren't stained and match. So I found it extremely funny to watch some of the other moms around me. They are dressed to the hilt with their perfect makeup and hair (which given the heat and humidity took some effort) going up front with their kids to dance where they could been seen. And I was no different. Although I have to admit my attempt was not at all successful. My hair was frizzy, my makeup melted and I was all hot and sweaty. Sounds really attractive doesn't it? And I had actually put some effort into it, which lately is rare. And when he demonstrated how they should wiggle their little butts and lift their shirts, I thought a few moms might actually faint! Then these same moms (myself included) stand in line with their kids to get autographs and photos and flirt shamelessly with him. Which leads me to this conclusion: The life of a children's rock star must be good. Thanks for stopping by and visiting. I hope to hear from ya'll as I travel through and share my random thoughts on this craziness known as life! |
